Q. What do you love about your training program and what drives you to keep coming back?

I enjoy CrossFit because it challenges you individually. The only person you need to compete with is yourself. It makes me strive to become better and stronger at certain movements. I also enjoy the variety of movements you can do in a WOD.
Q. What have been your greatest victories and challenges throughout your journey?
When I first started CrossFit, the hardest thing to get used to was a class full of other people who could watch each other work out. As a shy person, that was very intimidating. It took me about a year to get over that. I found it was comforting to know people will cheer each other on instead of tear them down. I still have a difficult time with squat movements, especially overhead squats…there’s something a little scary about putting a heavy bar above your head and squatting. I know lots of practice is involved and I plan on working on more of my core strength after pregnancy.

Q. How is your life different now compared to when you started?
I feel stronger physically (even pregnant) and mentally. I feel like if I can work on my challenges and overcome them it makes me a stronger, better person. CrossFit is tough, and compared to walking/running on a treadmill or step climber to get my exercise, I like to know I can challenge myself with “tough” activities. It’s so satisfying.
 Q. What advice can you give to others?

You can always scale back and modify as needed. No one will reprimand you for it. I did CrossFit throughout this pregnancy and modification was key. But also continue to push hard and you’ll learn you’re stronger th
an you think.
