Q. What was your life like prior to your CrossFit training and why did you want to start working with a coach? 

Before CrossFit I was very inconsistent with my exercise routine.  I would try different gyms, different workouts and was trying to find something that would fit me personally.   Years ago when I saw a CrossFit gym close to my house I thought I would give it a try.  I immediately fell in love with it and have been a member of CrossFit Julia since then.  I have been a member of CrossFit Julia for years and is a part of my life and could nScreen Shot 2016-02-28 at 7.53.20 PMot be happier.  After initially taking classes regularly I decided I wanted more individual attention to be able to perform the workouts better. I began personal training with Julia and stuck with that route of training.  This has helped me out in many ways – better form, consistency in working out and someone there pushing you every step of the way
are just a some of the positive benefits of working with a personal coach at the gym.

 

 

Q. What have been your greatest challenges since you began your CrossFit Training?

I will admit it, when it comes to the thought working out, I am somewhat lazy.  The biggest challenge for me sometimes is just showing up.  One of the things I love about personal training is Julia making me accountable to make sure I show up.  As far as working out goes, taking breaks when I feel like I am not able to push any further is a challenge.  It is great to have someone there pushing me each step of the way.

Q. What have been your greatest successes since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?

One of my greatest successes since beginning at CrossFit Julia is the increase in overall health and postive mindset.  My body has also changed for the better .  When I came to CrossFit Julia I was a very skinny person.  My muscle mass has increased significantly.  Not only has this increased my self-confidence it has also made me more aware of my body.   I have also become more tough mentally.  When times get tough outside of the gym I just think to myself it is never as hard as a CrossFit workout!

Q. What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?

I love the fact that at CrossFit everyday there is a new workout, a new challenge.  You never know what will be the next workout and I really like this compared to the old boring same routine workouts that I use to do.  It definitely keeps me on my toes.

Q. What advice can you give to others?

Continue to push through the tough times and never give up!

Q. Any other details you would like to share about your experience?

When I started CrossFit I started with regular classes which are great.  After some time life was getting in the way of important parts of my life including working out.  I decided to reach out to Julia and ask about personal training classes.  I really needed someone holding me accountable to show up.  This was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Does it cost more money than regular classes – yes – but for me it is a small price to pay to feel the way I do about myself and without the support from the CrossFit coaches I truly do not believe I would be where I am today – not only physically but professionally and personally.  I would highly recommend anyone that would like more consistency and personal attention to reach out and give personal training a try.  It has been amazing for me!
