The body is comprised of three main macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates, and fats.  Each one plays a vital role in the structure, health, and processes that take place within our body that result in good performance.  When you eat a food, your digestive system breaks it down and it will ultimately end up as one of those three substances.

Many diet plans suggest eliminating one of these macronutrients completely, however that can have a detriment to your body since some part of you will not be able to function optimally.
