// What was your life like prior to your CrossFit training and why did you want to start working with a coach?
Before CrossFit I did a lot of running & some P90X with a max of 10 lb weights. I was getting bored with my routine so when I moved to the Louisville area I contacted Julia to find out what CrossFit was exactly. I was very skeptical and thought I had to work out more than an hour to get a good workout in. She said you should come tonight we have an Evolution class starting. I graduated that class and was immediately addicted.
// What have been your greatest challenges (physically, mentally, emotionally) since you began your CrossFit Training?
I could not do pushups, pullups, rope climbs or weight lifting. I started out on the 15 lb bar. It was very intimidating at first but the drive in me to become better kept me showing up every day.
// What have been your greatest successes (physically,mentally or emotionally) since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?
Dedication is really paying off especially in the last couple months. I really feel my body transforming and getting stronger. Lifting is still a work in progress but I have conquered everything I couldn’t do at the beginning and I just recently completed my 1st bar muscle up.
// How has your life changed since starting CrossFit training? Has CrossFit transferred over into any other areas of your life?
My life in every way has changed since starting CrossFit. I had some pretty bad habits before. I thought since I went for a long run I earned myself a foot long sub at Quiznos & could drink all the beer I wanted. The biggest thing for me was learning about nutrition and how what you put in your body really does affect your performance in all areas of your life. I told somebody the other day, I had to quit my bad habits so I could keep up with you people.
// What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?
The workouts I did before were by myself so I pushed myself to some degree but it’s nothing like being in class with crazy strong people to help motivate you and push you to your max level. The encouragement you receive from coaches & peers is very inspiring as well.
// What advice can you give to others?
Stick with it, keep on showing up & you will see results!!!

Thinking back over time with so much I have accomplished and overcome , I want to thank my coaches and friends for their patience, support and advice along this CrossFit journey.
